summer is icumen in

I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of Summer. Generally it just makes me feel sweaty, bothered and too lazy to do anything. It hasn't been that warm the last couple of days, but I'm actually ready to embrace the Australian Summer this time. Those long hot nights with mosquitoes buzzing in my ears and all. (Well, maybe not that. Most.annoying.thing.ever.)

But really, I'm a bit excited about a few Summer fashion-related things I'd like to hunt for in opp shops, vintage stores and markets, wherever. Namely these few items:

Boater hat:

I know they're a bit private school girl, but I've decided they're positively chic and I love them. I thought I'd found the perfect one in a shop the other day, only to find out it was just a display. Will continue to look out for one, maybe on ebay too. This one I just saw on etsy, but sadly has been sold.

Playsuits:
Because they're so breezy and comfortable. Like a little dress, but more practical. I'm thinking once I properly learn to sew (starting lessons soon!) I might be able to make some of my own. This one's from Topshop I believe.

Summer sandals:

I like these t-bars (picture from your friend the bandit.) Finding a vintage pair would be nice, but I never seem to find them in my size.

I'm looking forward to reading books on the beach, lounging in parks, taking refreshing dips in the ocean, long bike rides, meeting new people and the sound of buzzing insects at night. I'm thinking a nice country trip to some opp shops and markets would be especially nice in the near future.

beginning

Hello, my name is Alice.
Having only just finished school I'm overwhelmed by having all this wonderful spare time on my hands. During my stressful school year I've almost forgotten how to relax and be creative, but that's what I plan to do now! I hope blogging will be a way for me to share some of these creative activities with the world, maybe the place for an odd rant, sharing a burst of inspiration and harboring my love for fashion. I'm a pursuer of beautiful things who has no idea yet what to do with my life, but I hope to find this out through my experiences.

One of my biggest forms of procrastination when I was 'studying' for my exams was definitely looking at blogs- mainly fashion ones, and just being inspired by what makes other people inspired. And now it's my turn to start. I had a bit of a recent revelation that I need to just go ahead and do those things I always wished/thought about doing.

Today was Sunday, and it was rainy, uneventful and relaxing. (I slept in ridiculously late and had no reason to feel guilty!)
My parents recently bought an old bungalow in East Brunswick (in need of renovations) and I went round this afternoon and helped clean up a bit before we lease it out to tenants.
